Why are our sweets not available via Amazon Prime?
Share
We would love to have our sweets be available to our customers via Amazon Prime, but we made a conscious choice not to. Why?
We have tried a couple of times to send our sweets to Amazon to be stocked in its warehouses so that Amazon can ship them out faster than the other shipping companies that we use ourselves. It failed miserably both the times. Here is why?
- Shipping companies would take 4-7 days to deliver the products to Amazon warehouses.
- When the Amazon sellers ship out their products to Amazon warehouses, the trailers of the shipping companies carrying the products wait in the line outside of the warehouses to be taken to the warehouse dock. It may take anywhere from 4 to 5 weeks during the non-peak season. It may be much longer during the peak season.
- After the trailer is taken to the warehouse dock, it may take another 2-3 weeks for the products to be put on the shelves.
- So, it takes about 7-10 weeks for the products to be ready to be shipped by Amazon Prime.
This is not a major concern when the products are not food items or they contain enough preservatives to sustain the heat while the products lay outside. However, since we do not use preservatives in our products, it does not work for us.
Our products get into the hands of our customers as fast as 1-4 days from the manufacturing, depending on the customer location.
